The suspect has been arrested, and police investigations continue into the gruesome murder suspected to be for ritual purposes.

A final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, has been found dismembered in the home of an Islamic cleric she met on Facebook. The suspect, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, allegedly lured her using social media, leading to a gruesome murder for suspected ritual purposes.

Yetunde was last seen on February 10, 2025, after leaving a naming ceremony following a phone call. When she failed to return home, her family reported her missing. Police investigations traced her last contact to Ballo’s residence in Ilorin, where he initially denied involvement. However, during a search, authorities discovered her dismembered remains hidden in a container along with ritual tools.

The suspect reportedly claimed Yetunde died from an asthma attack, but the police believe otherwise. Evidence found at the scene suggests a possible pattern of ritualistic killings.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed Ballo’s arrest, with the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiries. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have stormed the cleric’s Facebook page, where he previously posted religious messages, to express their outrage. The disturbing incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many calling for stricter regulations on social media interactions and the prosecution of ritual killers.

As investigations continue, the public awaits further updates on this tragic case.
