The Ogun State Police have dismissed Portable’s claim that he is receiving psychiatric treatment, insisting he remains wanted for allegedly assaulting officials. Police say he must surrender for questioning, while social media users react with mixed opinions. The controversy continues as authorities demand his compliance.
The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed claims made by controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment. The artist recently posted a video stating that he was receiving care at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta while pleading for leniency after being declared wanted.
However, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola refuted the claim, insisting that Portable remains a wanted man and must surrender himself to law enforcement. According to Odutola, if the singer were truly in a medical facility, the police would have been officially informed.
Portable was declared wanted for allegedly assaulting three Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development officials during an enforcement operation in Ota. The officials claimed they were attacked by Portable and his associates, with reports alleging the singer wielded a firearm. While nine of his associates have been arrested, Portable has evaded multiple police invitations.
Following the police statement, social media reactions were swift and diverse. Some users mocked the singer’s claims of psychiatric treatment, while others speculated that he was simply avoiding arrest. Many recalled his past controversies, with some suggesting that his chaotic lifestyle would eventually lead to serious consequences. Others humorously debated whether the police would ever capture him, given his unpredictable nature.
Despite public reactions, authorities remain firm in their stance that Portable must turn himself in for questioning. His legal troubles continue to spark discussions on law enforcement and celebrity behavior in Nigeria.
