In a tragic incident in Uganda, an Arsenal supporter is being sought by police after allegedly assaulting a Manchester United fan, which resulted in the latter's death. The altercation occurred on October 27, following a football match where Liverpool's Mohamed Salah scored a late equalizer against Arsenal, leading to a 2-2 draw.

The victim, identified as Benjamin Okello, reportedly celebrated Salah’s goal with enthusiasm, throwing popcorn at nearby Arsenal fans. This act sparked a heated argument between him and an Arsenal supporter, known only as Onan. Witnesses state that the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, culminating in Onan striking Okello with a stick.

The confrontation took place at the Kyobugombe Trading Centre, where both fans had gathered to watch the match. Okello was initially taken to Bukinda Health Centre for treatment before being transferred to Rugarama Regional Referral Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Local authorities, including the Kaharo Sub County Chairperson, confirmed the details of the incident, expressing concern over the rising tensions among football fans. Onan, described as a notorious figure in the community, has since gone into hiding. Kabale District police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him. District Police Commander Joseph Bakaleke remarked on the unfortunate events, emphasizing the need for safety among sports fans to prevent further violence.
