Eyewitnesses reported that the driver, whose identity remains unknown, was moving at high speed despite the area being populated with pedestrians. The force of the impact left both victims critically wounded. Passersby and concerned citizens quickly rushed them to Orile Agege General Hospital, where the younger sibling succumbed to her injuries. Due to the severity of her condition, the older sister was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for advanced medical care.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the hit-and-run case, vowing to track down the driver responsible. Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare M. Jimoh, expressed his condolences to the grieving family and assured the public that authorities would ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have called on the government to enforce stricter monitoring of BRT lanes and penalize reckless drivers who disregard traffic laws. The police have appealed to witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid in apprehending the suspect.
