In a tragic incident in Abia State, the bodies of three individuals, including a police officer, were found after a violent attack in Azumini Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area. The victims were among those abducted on March 4 when armed assailants ambushed a convoy escorting businessman Obasi Lawson. The attackers, driving a Toyota Sienna, shot and killed the driver and a passenger before abducting Lawson and a police officer from his security team.

After several days of extensive search operations, the police recovered the bodies of the driver and a civilian passenger on March 8. Further investigation led to the discovery of the remains of Tanko Natip, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), in a nearby bush. His body was later taken to a local mortuary. The whereabouts of the abducted businessman, Lawson, remain unknown as tactical teams continue to search for him using tracking technology. In response to the attack, the Abia police have strengthened security in the area and deployed additional teams to prevent further violence and track the movements of the suspected abductors.
