The Police Service Commission (PSC) has screened out 121,596 applicants from the ongoing constable recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force, with 434,604 candidates qualifying for the next stage. Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, Dr Taiwo Lakanu, disclosed at an Abuja news conference that out of 161,873 applications received, 60,674 were invalid. A total of 348,974 applied for General Duty and 85,630 for Specialist roles. Male applicants numbered 442,592 while females were 114,640. State-by-state analysis showed Adamawa recorded the highest applications (38,989), followed by Benue (34,511), Kaduna (30,397), and Borno (24,009). Lowest applications came from Ebonyi (1,667), Anambra (1,739), Bayelsa (2,430), and Lagos (2,448). Lakanu noted a two-week deadline extension addressed initial state participation imbalances.
