The Port Harcourt Refinery is poised to resume operations with the delivery of 475,000 barrels of crude oil from Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited.
This achievement, attributed to collaborative efforts between the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal (BOGT) and Port Harcourt Refinery Company (PHRC) teams, involved meticulous activities such as pressure testing and leak assurance by NNPC Limited subsidiaries.
Shell emphasized the event's transformative impact on the industry and national economy, aligning with the government's goal of a stable petroleum supply. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. confirmed the fulfillment of its rehabilitation commitment, reaching 84.4% completion for Area 5 Plant, a pivotal component of the refinery, as of December 15th, 2023.
The refinery's revival marks a crucial milestone in Nigeria's energy sector.
