Sunday Dare, presidential adviser, dismissed criticisms from Amaechi and el-Rufai, labeling them “wannabes” and “pseudo friends.” He accused them of attempting to disrupt governance while Tinubu remained focused on Nigeria’s progress
Presidential adviser Sunday Dare has dismissed criticisms against President Bola Tinubu, calling his opponents “wannabes” and “pseudo friends” attempting to disrupt governance. His comments follow statements by former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir el-Rufai, who recently criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at a democracy conference.
El-Rufai accused the APC of abandoning its core values and promoting weak leadership, stating that Nigeria’s leadership crisis stems from “illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people” in power. He further asserted that he would have criticized the government even if he were part of Tinubu’s cabinet.
Amaechi, meanwhile, claimed the political elite would not willingly relinquish power to younger generations. Their remarks have fueled political tensions.
Reacting on social media, Dare argued that opposition figures are attempting to “heat the polity” while President Tinubu remains focused on governance. He dismissed their statements as part of a familiar opposition playbook and urged Nigerians to scrutinize politicians before the 2027 elections.
Dare emphasized that Tinubu is dedicated to solving Nigeria’s economic and energy challenges, highlighting his recent engagements in Tanzania. He insisted that the president remains undistracted and is committed to leading the country towards progress.
As political debates intensify, Dare’s remarks reinforce the ongoing divide between the ruling party and its critics ahead of future elections.
