President Bola Tinubu's government, through spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, has rebuked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for criticizing its handling of Nigeria's security situation, asserting its commitment to improving both security and the economy.
The statement highlighted the administration's efforts to address the country's challenges head-on, emphasizing a shift towards economic stability. It touted recent economic achievements, including the naira becoming the best-performing currency globally and an upward revision of Nigeria's growth projection by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Additionally, the government outlined ambitious infrastructure projects aimed at driving growth further.
In response to the PDP's accusations of attempting to establish a one-party state, the statement refuted the claims and defended the administration's record on security, citing improvements and successful rescue operations by the armed forces. The government advised the PDP to focus on internal issues and dismissed allegations of plans to consolidate power under a single party.
