The Federal Executive Council (FEC), chaired by President Bola Tinubu, has greenlit the implementation of part of the Stephen Oronsaye report, signaling significant changes in Nigeria's bureaucratic landscape.
The move, as elucidated by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, aims to curtail the burgeoning cost of governance and enhance operational efficiency within the government apparatus.
While some parastatals, agencies, and commissions face mergers, others will be subsumed, scrapped, or relocated in a bid to optimize resources and streamline processes.
Additionally, FEC received a report from an inter-ministerial panel tasked with reviewing the National Social Investment Programme's operations, paving the way for the immediate restart of direct payments to 12 million households encompassing 60 million Nigerians, albeit with crucial stipulations.
