President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri on Monday to express his condolences to the Borno State government and its residents following the devastating flooding caused by the Alau Dam incident. The flood submerged significant portions of Maiduguri, resulting in loss of life and extensive property damage.

Upon his arrival at approximately 3:15 PM, President Tinubu was welcomed by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum. As part of his visit, he is scheduled to meet with the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kaneni. After this courtesy call, Tinubu plans to visit one of the newly established relief camps to engage directly with those displaced by the flooding.

In response to the crisis, the Borno government has set up 36 relief camps to provide shelter and support for the thousands affected. The recent flooding has highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, as many families are now facing significant challenges in securing necessities.
