The charges relate to the stampede at a children’s funfair that led to the deaths of several children, including 8-year-old Musiliu Sofiayah and 7-year-old Lekan Salami. The suspects allegedly failed to provide adequate security, crowd control, and medical facilities, contributing to the disaster. The charges are under Sections 324, 517, 308, and 344 of the Criminal Code, Oyo State.
Legal representatives for Hazmat have confirmed that they have yet to be officially served with the suit. A ruling on the bail applications of the suspects is expected today in the Oyo State High Court. A separate hearing in the Chief Magistrate Court will also address the matter.
