RCCG insists on due process in SeaKing’s case despite Pastor Adeboye’s plea for his release. The church clarifies that it won’t obstruct legal proceedings, emphasizing respect for the law. It also warns against cyberbullying, urging constructive discussions while allowing authorities to conduct a fair investigation.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has called for due process in the ongoing legal case involving Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as SeaKing, despite Pastor Enoch Adeboye's plea for his release.
SeaKing was arrested after criticizing Adeboye’s directive for a nationwide 100-day fast, calling it “stupid.” Following public outcry, Adeboye distanced himself from the arrest and urged authorities to free the social media influencer.
However, in a statement released on Monday, RCCG clarified that while Adeboye remains committed to peace and reconciliation, the church will not obstruct legal proceedings. The church’s Public Relations Unit stated that videos containing defamatory statements against Adeboye had not been fully reviewed before his plea for SeaKing’s release.
The church emphasized the importance of respecting the law, especially since an official complaint was filed against SeaKing by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum on behalf of prominent Christian leaders, including Adeboye.
RCCG also warned against cyberbullying and defamatory remarks targeting its leadership and the Christian community. It reaffirmed its commitment to fostering respectful dialogue, urging the public to engage in constructive discussions.
While Adeboye’s plea for leniency reflects his forgiving nature, RCCG insists that justice must take its course. The church has assured that it will not interfere in the police investigation, trusting authorities to handle the matter professionally and reach a fair conclusion based on legal principles.
