In a recent development, students and staff members from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have been freed after enduring seven months of captivity at the hands of bandits. The group was abducted during a violent attack in February 2024.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, confirmed the release on Monday, September 23. Sources indicate that security forces were instrumental in facilitating the victims' return.

According to Makama, "The individuals kidnapped during the assault in Gusau have now been released, and reports confirm they are in good health after their lengthy ordeal."
