Political commentator Reno Omokri has called on Labour Party’s Peter Obi to offer employment to Ushie Rita Uguamaye, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who recently criticized President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria’s economic hardships.

In a post on Instagram, Omokri questioned Obi’s public support for the corps member, urging him to back his words with action by employing her in one of his companies. He argued that if Obi truly believes she demonstrated strong moral values and a good upbringing, he should provide her with a job where she can influence his employees with her attitude.

“I challenge you to offer her employment in your company,” Omokri wrote. “Peter Obi has several companies. If he admires her behavior so much, then let him employ her so she can teach his workers to act like her.”

Omokri’s statement came after Obi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express support for Uguamaye, whose viral video highlighted the economic struggles facing young Nigerians.

The challenge has sparked mixed reactions online. Some Nigerians agree that Obi should employ the corps member to prove his sincerity, while others believe jobs should be given based on merit, not political pressure. Some critics dismissed Omokri’s statement as a political ploy, while others questioned whether Obi's support for the corps member was genuine or a publicity stunt.
