The Nigerian House of Representatives has removed a 5 billion naira allocation designated for the Presidential Yacht from the 2023 supplementary budget. This decision was explained by Abubakar Bichi, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, who stated that the lawmakers took into account the public's interests when deciding to eliminate the provision for the yacht. Instead, the funds were reallocated to increase the budget for student loans.
Following the amendment, the student loan budgetary allocation has been augmented to a total of 10.5 billion naira, signifying a substantial boost of 5 billion naira.
