Islamic State - West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists issue dire ultimatum to Borno communities, demanding evacuation or facing death. Residents flee amidst fears of violence following recent attacks. Despite government efforts, insurgency persists in the region, highlighting ongoing security challenges in Nigeria's conflict-affected areas.
Amidst escalating tensions in Borno State, Islamic State - West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have issued a chilling ultimatum to residents of Kukawa Local Government Area (LGA), threatening death if they fail to vacate their homes. This follows the recent massacre of fifteen fishermen in Tumbun Rogo settlement by the same group.
Residents, alarmed by the warning, swiftly evacuated their communities, seeking refuge in nearby towns like Maiduguri, Kross Kauwa, and Monguno. The affected areas, known for their vibrant fishing and farming activities, have historically been targeted by insurgents due to their socioeconomic significance.
Despite efforts by the government to restore peace and stability, including resettling displaced communities, the threat of terrorism persists. The presence of Nigerian Army and Navy troops in the region has not deterred ISWAP from exploiting the area for financial gain.
