Abdulkadir Danbuga, a 63-year-old member of the House of Representatives, has passed away. Ben Kalu, the deputy speaker of the house, shared this sad news during a plenary session on Wednesday. Danbuga's death occurred in Abuja after a brief illness earlier that morning, and he was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.
Danbuga represented the Isa/Sabon Birnin federal constituency of Sokoto state under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His passing was described as a significant loss by Ahmad Kalambaina, a fellow lawmaker representing Kware/Wamakko federal constituency in Sokoto.
Traditionally, when a serving member of the house dies, plenary sessions are adjourned as a mark of respect. Therefore, the house decided to adjourn plenary to the following day.
This unfortunate event follows the loss of Isma’ila Maihanchi in April, a member elected to represent Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency in Taraba. Maihanchi, who was only 36 years old when he passed away, had won the election under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Danbuga's passing is mourned not only by his constituency but also by the nation.
