Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has denied allegations by former Head of Service George Nwaeke, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. Nwaeke had accused Fubara of orchestrating the state's political crisis, colluding with militants, and plotting to destroy oil pipelines. However, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Fubara described the claims as “laughable” and insisted that Nwaeke had been “compromised” and pressured into making false accusations.
Fubara refuted allegations of secret meetings with militants or plans to destabilize the state, emphasizing his commitment to peace even in the face of political tensions. He also rejected claims of supporting Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for a 2027 presidential bid, arguing that Nwaeke, as HoS, had no access to such high-level political discussions. Urging Rivers residents to disregard Nwaeke’s statements, Fubara called them desperate attempts to undermine his administration and disrupt the peace efforts initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
