Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has assured the public of his safety after concerns were raised by his wife over his whereabouts. Speaking from Abuja, he confirmed he is lodging at Transcorp Hilton and plans to meet with security agencies regarding his recent allegations against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Nwaeke’s wife, Florence, had earlier made a distress call, fearing for her husband’s life after his sudden resignation. She claimed she was unable to reach him and questioned whether he was under duress. However, in a recorded video on Saturday, Nwaeke dismissed rumors of his abduction, stating that his wife had been misled.
"I want to clear this up—I was not kidnapped. I am in Abuja at Transcorp Hilton. They told my wife I was abducted, and she was made to believe false narratives,” he said.
Nwaeke emphasized that his wife was unaware of political matters and that any statements attributed to her were influenced by external sources. He reaffirmed that his decision to resign stemmed from concerns about governance in Rivers State.
Meanwhile, Governor Fubara has refuted Nwaeke’s allegations, suggesting that the former official was coerced into making false claims. The governor released chat screenshots implying that Nwaeke sought financial assistance from his Chief of Staff.
