The Rivers State Government has refuted claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of the NNPC and oil companies, labeling the reports as false propaganda. Officials emphasized their commitment to governance and urged the public to ignore misleading information circulating on social media.

The Rivers State Government has firmly rejected a social media report claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other oil companies operating in the region. In an official statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the government described the report as "false" and "concocted propaganda."

The statement emphasized that the news item circulating on social media was fabricated, dismissing it as a product of misinformation propagated by unverified sources. "Governor Siminalayi Fubara is committed to the rule of law and does not rely on unconventional and crude approaches to respond to matters of governance," the statement read. The government urged the public, particularly the residents of Rivers State, to disregard the misleading claims that suggested an impending shutdown of vital economic entities.

Fubara's administration reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a stable economic environment, emphasizing that at no point has the governor contemplated taking such drastic measures that would disrupt the state's economy. The government reiterated its commitment to transparency and responsible governance, urging citizens to remain vigilant against misleading information.
