During a significant meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed his unwavering allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Addressing members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) on Tuesday, led by Chairman Adolphus Wabara, Fubara made it clear that he remains a "genuine" and "undiluted" member of the party.
Fubara's statement came in response to growing rumors and speculations about his political loyalty. He expressed gratitude to the BoT members for their visit, emphasizing that their presence dispelled any doubts about his commitment to the PDP. “This visit is a testament that standing by the party is not a wrong decision,” Fubara stated, adding that the meeting would address the origins and escalation of the current tensions within the party.
The governor underscored the importance of clarity and consistency in his stance, noting that his message remains the same, whether in Abuja or Port Harcourt. He criticized the spread of rumors and propaganda, asserting that the BoT's visit should put such misinformation to rest.
In his remarks, Wabara acknowledged the BoT's concerns about the PDP's position in Rivers State. He stressed the importance of unity and peace within the party, warning that losing Rivers could have dire consequences for Nigeria’s political future. Wabara assured Fubara that all issues would be addressed constitutionally, reaffirming the BoT’s commitment to preserving the integrity and future of the PDP.
