Manchester United’s struggles deepened after a 1-0 loss to Tottenham, with James Maddison’s early goal sealing their fate. Garnacho and Hojlund missed crucial chances, while injuries weakened the squad. The defeat drops United to 15th in the Premier League, marking their worst season in decades.

Manchester United’s struggles worsened as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday, dropping to 15th in the Premier League. James Maddison’s early strike in the 13th minute proved decisive, capitalizing on United’s defensive lapse after Andre Onana failed to clear a dangerous shot.

Despite creating several chances, United’s attack lacked cutting edge. Alejandro Garnacho squandered a golden opportunity, blasting over from close range, while Rasmus Hojlund continued his frustrating goal drought. Joshua Zirkzee also missed a crucial header as United failed to break through Tottenham’s defense.

Ruben Amorim’s squad was already dealing with multiple setbacks before kickoff. Injuries to key players, including Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo, along with illnesses affecting Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro, left the team short on options. Forced changes saw Casemiro return to the starting lineup after six weeks, while eight of United’s nine substitutes had never played senior football for the club.

United’s defensive issues persisted, with Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire unable to contain Tottenham’s attacking movement. The defeat marks another setback for Amorim, whose tactical adjustments failed to inspire a response. With the club now at serious risk of finishing in the bottom half of the table, pressure is mounting on the manager to turn things around.
