Seven residents abducted from Sagwari Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been released by their captors. The ordeal began when gunmen raided the estate, abducting 10 residents, as previously reported by Daily Trust. Tragically, the captors had set a ransom deadline, and the failure to meet their demands led to the brutal killing of Nabeeha.
The victims included Talatu Salihu, a 500-level student of Library and Information Science at Bayero University Kano (BUK), a hotel staff member, Akpagher Joseph Terzungwe, and 13-year-old Mitchell Ariyo.
Following the gruesome killing, the remaining captives faced an increased ransom demand, and a new deadline was set. However, sources now reveal that the seven remaining victims, including a female hotel receptionist, a mother with her three children, and two little children, have been released to their respective families.
This development comes on the heels of the freedom regained by the four remaining siblings of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who was killed in captivity. The sisters, initially abducted alongside their father in early January, were subjected to an escalated ransom demand after their father's tragic demise. As of the latest report, the sisters have been reunited with their family in Abuja after a traumatic period in captivity. The incident underscores the ongoing crisis of kidnappings in the region, raising urgent concerns about the safety and security of residents.
