Bukayo Saka expresses confidence that Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season, aiming to end a 21-year wait. Currently sitting third in the league, Saka believes the team's recent performances show they have what it takes to succeed, especially ahead of their upcoming matches.
Bukayo Saka has expressed strong confidence in Arsenal’s chances of clinching the Premier League title this season, aiming to end a 21-year wait. After finishing as runners-up in both the 2022-23 and previous seasons, the Gunners are currently third in the league, trailing Liverpool by just one point.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Saka stated, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think that this is the year we can win the title.” He highlighted the team's near misses in recent seasons, fueling his determination for success. “Previous years, I’ve come runners-up a lot. It’s just that spirit in me that I want to win this season, and of course, I believe in myself a lot,” he added.
Saka's belief in the squad is reinforced by their recent performances, including a notable display against Paris Saint-Germain. He mentioned the importance of making a statement when facing big teams, emphasizing the team's ambition to reclaim their status among the elite.
Looking ahead, Arsenal is set to host struggling Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The Saints, currently sitting in 19th place, have yet to secure a win since their return to the Premier League, presenting a crucial opportunity for Arsenal to assert their title ambitions further.
