Salome Adaidu’s uncle, Adaji Samson, alleges that Timileyin Ajayi, the confessed murderer of his niece, attempted suicide before his court appearance. Ajayi, who admitted to killing Salome, reportedly feigned weakness to delay the legal process. He was arraigned on charges of culpable homicide in Nasarawa State.
Timileyin Ajayi, the confessed murderer of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, is facing fresh accusations following claims from Salome's uncle, Adaji Samson. During an interview on Brekete Family, Samson alleged that Ajayi attempted to take his own life before his court appearance on January 17, 2025. According to Samson, Ajayi pretended to be weak while at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Lafia, likely trying to evade justice. Samson recounted that as they entered the office, Ajayi deliberately collided with an open door, sustaining a cut to his face. Samson believes Ajayi was attempting self-harm to delay the inevitable legal consequences.
He further described how Ajayi resisted medical treatment for the injury, shouting as doctors attempted to stitch the wound. Samson's allegations raise questions about Ajayi's intent and actions during his detention. The suspect was arraigned in Nasarawa State High Court on charges of culpable homicide, which carries the death penalty in Nigeria.
The case has drawn public attention due to the brutal nature of Salome’s murder and Ajayi’s attempts to dodge responsibility. The police continue to investigate, and authorities are proceeding with the legal process against the accused.
