Mashariq Al Dhahabiah Al Mutawazi, a Saudi company contracted by NAHCON to serve Nigerian pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj, threatens legal action over contract breaches. The company claims NAHCON violated terms by splitting the agreement with another provider, demanding a 20-day resolution before seeking international arbitration.
A Saudi company, Mashariq Al Dhahabiah Al Mutawazi, has issued a legal warning to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over alleged contract violations related to the 2025 Hajj services. The company, which was initially contracted to provide services to Nigerian pilgrims, claims that NAHCON breached the agreement by splitting the contract with another provider, Ikram Diyafa, just before the payment deadline. Mashariq Al Dhahabiah insists that it was supposed to be the sole provider for Nigerian pilgrims, particularly during key Hajj activities in Muna and Arafah.
In a letter to NAHCON, the company stated that the contract clearly outlined that Mashariq Al Dhahabiah would cater to the full number of pilgrims registered under Nigeria’s pilgrim system. The company also emphasized that NAHCON had violated this agreement by engaging another service provider without prior approval from them. Mashariq Al Dhahabiah has given NAHCON 20 days to resolve the issue, or it will seek arbitration as per the contract’s terms.
The dispute is seen as a serious concern for Nigeria, as it could lead to a legal battle in Saudi Arabia, possibly damaging the country’s relationship with the Kingdom. Despite efforts to reach NAHCON for comments, the commission has not provided any public response yet, though a statement from its spokesperson indicates ongoing discussions to resolve the matter.
