Julius Berger, the renowned construction giant, has formally transferred the completed Second Niger Bridge project to the Federal Government. The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, expressed his contentment with the project during a brief ceremony at the toll area of the bridge. Umahi confirmed that Julius Berger had diligently repaired vandalized portions of the bridge.
Notably, Umahi announced that the bridge is now open to concession for any private company willing to finalize ancillary road construction, manage toll collection, and recoup investments. He also disclosed ongoing efforts to streamline traffic at both the old and new bridges, especially during the upcoming festive period.
Stretching across 1.6 kilometers, the Second Niger Bridge serves as a vital link between Anambra and Delta states. The project, initially proposed during the 1978/79 political campaign by Shehu Shagari, marks a crucial infrastructure development aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic activities
