Uche Secondus criticizes Nyesom Wike for forgetting the political support that helped him rise to power, emphasizing that leadership is about humility and respect for elders. Secondus also praised Rivers Governor Fubara for his dedication to the people and commitment to leadership.
Uche Secondus, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, accusing him of forgetting the support he received from other political leaders. Secondus made these remarks while accompanying Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the inauguration of a 14-kilometre internal road in Khana Local Government Area. The event comes amid escalating tensions between Wike, now the federal minister of the FCT, and Fubara, as they vie for control of the political landscape in Rivers.
The feud between Wike and Fubara has led to a series of political crises, including conflicting court orders and division within the Rivers House of Assembly. Wike had previously criticized Secondus and other PDP leaders for backing Fubara, calling Secondus an “expired politician” unworthy of being an elder statesman. In response, Secondus reminded Wike that his rise to power was thanks to the collective support of Rivers politicians, not divine intervention alone.
Secondus further praised Fubara, calling him a leader who respects elders and does not seek accolades. He emphasized that leadership is tested in times of confusion and frustration, and Fubara’s humility and commitment to his people were qualities that would lead to his success. Secondus ended by affirming that power comes from God, and Fubara would continue to thrive with support from the people.
