The tragic death of Nigerian boxer Segun 'Success' Olanrewaju has been attributed to sudden cardiac arrest, according to a recent autopsy. Olanrewaju, aged 40, collapsed during a boxing match at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana, on March 29, 2025. The former National and West African light-heavyweight champion was facing John "Power" Mbanugu when he suddenly fell to the canvas mid-fight. Despite immediate medical attention, Olanrewaju was declared dead shortly after.

The autopsy, conducted on April 2, 2025, confirmed that the boxer died of cardiac arrest. However, Remi Aboderin, the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, noted that further investigation into Olanrewaju's heart condition would be conducted to understand the underlying cause. As a result, the body will not be released for burial until additional investigations are completed, which is expected to take about two weeks.
