Former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel has urged President Bola Tinubu to seek a diplomatic resolution to the dispute involving seized Nigerian jets and the Chinese firm Zhongfu International Investment FXE. Daniel emphasizes avoiding media disputes and focusing on negotiations to protect Nigeria's international interests.

In the ongoing saga surrounding the seized presidential jets, former Ogun State Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel has stepped into the fray, advocating for a diplomatic resolution. Like his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Daniel has urged President Bola Tinubu to pursue diplomatic channels to resolve the dispute with the Chinese firm Zhongfu International Investment FXE. The firm, which obtained a court injunction to ground three Nigerian jets in Europe, is embroiled in a legal battle over a terminated management contract at the Ogun/Guangdong Free Trade Zone, a project initiated during Daniel's tenure.

Daniel emphasized that rather than engaging in media debates, the focus should be on negotiating a settlement that safeguards Nigeria's national interests. He underscored the importance of resolving the issue through diplomatic means, given the sensitive nature of the case and its implications for Nigeria's global reputation. Daniel also clarified that his administration's involvement in the Free Trade Zone project was limited to its establishment and that the current legal matters are beyond his direct control.

The former governor's call for diplomatic action highlights the broader need for strategic and non-confrontational approaches in addressing international disputes, reflecting a commitment to protecting Nigeria's assets and interests on the global stage.
