Senate President Godswill Akpabio has formally requested an investigation from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, following serious allegations made by suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. On April 1, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of orchestrating a plot to assassinate her in Kogi State, claiming it was part of a conspiracy involving both current and former Kogi governors, Usman Ododo and Yahaya Bello.
Akpabio, in his petition dated April 3, strongly denied the allegations, calling them defamatory and politically motivated. He emphasized that Akpoti-Uduaghan's statement was entirely unfounded and aimed at damaging his public image. Akpabio accused the Kogi senator of intentionally stirring public unrest and manipulating public opinion with false claims. He demanded swift legal action and that Akpoti-Uduaghan be held accountable for the baseless accusations.
