Senator Monday Okpebholo has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Edo State governorship, securing 12,433 votes. The results were announced on Friday by Governor Bassey Otu, Chairman of the Revised APC Edo Gubernatorial Election Committee.
Out of the 41,784 total votes cast, 31,863 were accredited voters, with zero invalid votes. Notably, the race featured 12 contestants, including Dr Blessing A., Gerald Charles, Senator O.O Osunbor, Col. David Imose, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Everest Afolabi, Gideon O. Ikhanire, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, Amero Sunday, Agba Clement, and Lucky Imasuen.
This primary follows the cancellation of an earlier one by the National Working Committee, addressing concerns of incomplete proceedings. Okpebholo's victory adds a new dynamic to the political landscape in the run-up to the September 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
