Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, has backtracked on his earlier claims about the 2024 Appropriation Act. Speaking with Senate correspondents, Ningi stated that he is prepared to face suspension from the National Assembly, affirming that he never implied President Bola Tinubu was implementing two budgets or displayed bias against the North. While maintaining his stance on the allocation of N25 trillion in the budget, Ningi expressed uncertainty about the project locations for the additional N3 trillion.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo South Senatorial District has called for the Federal Government to charge Senator Ningi with criminal misinformation and breach of peace.
The Presidency refuted Ningi's claims, asserting that the 2024 Budget, signed by President Tinubu, was not anti-north and emphasized the government's fairness and equity in its implementation.
