Shettima expressed confidence that Nigeria, despite its current economic struggles, has a unique opportunity to lay a foundation for future growth. He noted that the ongoing crisis presents a chance to refocus on key sectors, including education and agriculture, to boost the economy and create a sustainable future.

Rather than accepting foreign aid, Shettima called for partnerships that foster mutual respect and equality. He emphasized the rich potential of Africa, stressing that the continent holds the key to global growth in the coming years. He specifically highlighted the role of Nigeria in shaping this trajectory.

In addition to his address on self-reliance, Shettima also discussed Nigeria’s commitment to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the country’s readiness to spearhead economic integration across Africa.
