In Bauchi State's Bogoro councillorship election, the Labour Party secured the most votes in Lusa B Ward despite not fielding a candidate. The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) declared PDP's Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf, who came second, as the winner. The APC candidate placed third with 275 votes.

In a surprising turn of events, the Labour Party in Bauchi State emerged with the highest votes in the Bogoro councillorship election held in Lusa B Ward, despite not having a candidate.

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) announced the results, revealing that the Labour Party received 2,200 votes, followed closely by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf, who garnered 2,168 votes.

Although the Labour Party secured the most votes, BSIEC declared Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf as the winner and newly elected councillor, as she was the leading candidate with the highest votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mbam Masoyi, finished third with 275 votes.

This unusual result has sparked reactions online, with some attributing the Labour Party’s success to the influence of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Social media users expressed surprise and confusion, questioning how a party without a candidate could secure the most votes.

The incident highlights growing political dynamics and the Labour Party’s rising popularity in the region, even in situations where they did not field a candidate.
