Samuel Nwanosike, Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, has pointed fingers at Governor Sim Fubara, accusing him of orchestrating a series of kidnappings in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The shocking claim, made in a video shared on his social media handle, suggests a sinister plot to discredit and force the removal of former Rivers governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Nwanosike asserted, "He is paying people to go and tell Abuja that Wike is playing politics in Rivers state that they are doing kidnapping in Abuja." The Ikwerre chairman addressed his supporters at Omerelu community, emphasizing Fubara's alleged involvement in supporting the kidnappings with the ulterior motive of pushing Wike out of office.
In the video, Nwanosike expressed his disdain for Fubara's governance, stating, "Fubara is a foolish governor because since he took office on May 29, he has done nothing for Rivers people." The chairman further claimed that President Bola Tinubu is aware of Fubara's alleged tactics but remains supportive of Minister Wike's performance.
Responding to these accusations, Joe Johnson, Rivers Commissioner for Information, expressed ignorance, stating that he was "only hearing it now" and would react once he could confirm the statement.
The rift between Wike and Fubara, which had garnered national attention, saw intervention from the president, resulting in a resolution with conditions favoring the FCT Minister. Meanwhile, Wike attributed the surge in kidnappings in Abuja to the military incursion in Kaduna and Niger states, which displaced bandits and contributed to the security challenges.
As these explosive accusations reverberate through Rivers State, the nation watches closely for the unfolding developments and the potential impact on the already tense political atmosphere in the region.
