According to Bimbo Oladeji, director of public affairs and consumer protection at the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the aircraft was cleared for takeoff when a loud bang was heard, identified as the rear gear tyres bursting. Initially, two tyres burst, and while attempting to taxi off the runway, the remaining two tyres also burst, leaving the aircraft completely disabled.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. NSIB Director General, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., will lead a go-team to the incident site to conduct a thorough investigation. This incident highlights the importance of rigorous safety checks and swift response protocols to ensure the safety of passengers and crew in such emergencies.
