A video circulating on Twitter has sparked significant reactions from Nigerians after it captured a man publicly beating his wife on the road.

In response, village elders intervened by tying the man to a tree and flogging him with a cane. The viral clip shows the man shouting “Chairman Bikonu” as he receives his punishment.

Nigerians have largely applauded the elders' actions, finding humor and satisfaction in the retributive justice. Comments flooded social media with people expressing their approval.

One user commented, "Serves him right. The woman should be allowed to beat him too. Next time, he won’t dare to beat a woman." Another shared, "Never have I gained this much satisfaction from someone’s pain. Forgive me Lord. 😢😂" The sentiment was echoed by others, with one saying, "This made me very happy! Nah madness we dey take cure madness!"

Many users suggested that other communities should adopt similar measures, with one remarking, "Every community should adopt this style. Fvck around and get Fvcked big time."
