Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has taken a jab at his critics, claiming that some only wished him a happy 65th birthday because President Bola Tinubu did. The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who has been vocal in his criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of birthday messages but pointed out that many were insincere.

In a post on X, El-Rufai thanked those who genuinely celebrated him while acknowledging that Tinubu’s message likely pressured some into sending their wishes. He admitted being overwhelmed by the number of messages and apologized to those he failed to acknowledge personally. Despite the political undercurrents, he prayed for continued good health and a prosperous Nigeria rooted in progressive governance and democracy.
