Omoyele Sowore marked the third anniversary of his brother Felix Olajide's murder, claiming it remains unsolved due to involvement by agents of the Nigerian state. Despite assurances from the Edo State government, no progress has been made in bringing Olajide's killers to justice since he died in 2021.

On the third anniversary of his brother's murder, Omoyele Sowore, a prominent human rights activist and former presidential candidate, expressed his anguish over the unresolved killing of Felix Olajide Sowore. Olajide was shot dead by suspected kidnappers near Benin City, Edo State, on September 4, 2021, while returning from school. In a poignant message shared on social media, Sowore claimed that his brother's death remains unsolved due to the involvement of "agents of the Nigerian state," alleging that those responsible for bringing justice are the same individuals implicated in the murder.

Sowore's grief was compounded by the lack of accountability from both the Edo State government and former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, who had previously vowed to bring Olajide's killers to justice. Despite Governor Godwin Obaseki’s assurances three years ago, no significant progress has been made in the investigation. Sowore lamented the failure of the government to act, stating, “His murder remains unsolved because he was killed by those who should have done so.” The continued lack of resolution in the case has left a painful mark on the Sowore family, highlighting ongoing concerns about the safety and effectiveness of law enforcement in Nigeria.
