William Troost-Ekong, the captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has officially joined Al-Kholood FC after leaving PAOK Thessaloniki FC in Greece. The Saudi Arabian club announced the signing on their social media platforms on Friday, confirming that the 30-year-old defender will participate in the upcoming 2024-2025 Saudi Pro League season.

Ekong’s transfer follows a successful stint at PAOK, where he had been since July 2023 under a three-year contract. In a heartfelt farewell message on social media, he expressed his appreciation for the club and his teammates, reflecting on the memorable experiences he had during his time in Greece.

He thanked the PAOK president, coaching staff, and medical team for their support, emphasizing the close relationships he built with his teammates, who he considers family. Ekong also acknowledged the unwavering backing of the fans, highlighting the unique atmosphere at Toumba Stadium and the significance of the club’s motto, “MONO PAOK.”
