The Supreme Court has rejected the Allied Peoples Movement's (APM) appeal against the nomination of Kashim Shettima as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Presidential candidate in the recent presidential election. A seven-member panel, led by Justice John Okoro, dismissed the appeal after the appellant's lawyer, Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh, requested its withdrawal.
The panel quickly identified the appeal as frivolous, as the Supreme Court had already resolved the issue of Shettima's proper nomination in a previous case involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against INEC and others.
Justice Okoro questioned Umeh about the potential benefits of the case for his client, highlighting the appeal's lack of utilitarian value.
Ultimately, the appeal was dismissed, underscoring the court's commitment to preventing unnecessary legal burdens
