The Supreme Court has rejected Mr. Ladi Adebutu's appeal against Governor Dapo Abiodun's election victory in Ogun State. Adebutu argued that the election didn't follow the rules and Abiodun didn't get enough legal votes, urging the court to cancel the results.

However, the Supreme Court disagreed, stating that the appeal lacked merit and confirming Governor Abiodun's win. This decision follows defeats for Adebutu in the state tribunal and the court of appeal.

Governor Abiodun had secured victory in the March 18 election with 276,298 votes, defeating Adebutu (262,383 votes) and Biyi Otegbeye of the ADC (94,754 votes). The Supreme Court's decision now settles the legal disputes over the election.

Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude on social media, saying, "To God be the Glory! The Supreme Court has affirmed our triumph." He acknowledged the responsibility entrusted to him by the people of Ogun State and pledged to carry it out diligently, confident in his ability to lead the state to prosperity and harmony. The ruling solidifies Governor Abiodun's mandate for the next phase of governance in Ogun State
