A devastating tanker explosion rocked Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road on Tuesday, leaving a trail of destruction as over 30 vehicles were consumed by fire. The inferno, caused by a petrol-laden tanker, sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky, triggering panic among motorists and commuters.

Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker lost control before overturning, spilling highly flammable fuel that ignited on impact. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing cars and causing chaos on the busy highway. Many passengers abandoned their vehicles and fled for safety as the flames intensified.

Despite the severity of the explosion, emergency responders were yet to arrive at the scene as of the time of reporting. Stranded motorists expressed frustration over the delayed response by fire services and security agencies, fearing that the damage could escalate.

Authorities are yet to confirm the number of casualties, but fears remain high that lives may have been lost in the tragic incident. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Federal Fire Service are expected to provide an update on the situation.
