Atsi Kefas, sister to Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, has tragically passed away following injuries sustained during a convoy attack.
The incident occurred last Thursday in Wukari, where gunmen ambushed the convoy. During the commotion, a police officer attempting to defend against the assailants reportedly fired the shot that injured Atsi. She was traveling with her mother, Jummai Agbu, when the attack unfolded.
Both women were promptly evacuated by security personnel, utilizing an air ambulance to transport them to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari. Atsi’s condition necessitated further care, and she was transferred to Abuja for advanced treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Atsi succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. Timothy Kataps, Secretary to the State Government, confirmed the sad news, expressing condolences and praying for her soul to rest in peace.
This incident underscores the growing insecurity in Taraba State, as criminal elements continue to target convoys and communities. It also raises concerns about operational challenges faced by law enforcement during emergencies.

Governor Kefas Agbu has yet to make a public statement about the loss of his sister, but the incident has sparked widespread mourning and discussions on the urgent need to address safety concerns in the region.
