Samsung Electronics has announced the passing of its co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee, who died at 63 due to cardiac arrest. Han, a veteran in the tech industry, has been instrumental in shaping Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile business since assuming leadership in 2022.
Having dedicated over 37 years to the company, Han played a pivotal role in making Samsung’s TV and home appliance segments global leaders. His leadership helped the company navigate challenging economic conditions, and he was widely respected for his strategic vision.
At a recent annual investor meeting, Han acknowledged the company’s financial struggles and assured stakeholders that Samsung would explore mergers and acquisitions to drive growth. He also addressed concerns about global economic uncertainties impacting the semiconductor industry.
Han’s tenure at Samsung began in 1988 after earning a degree in electrical engineering from Inha University. Before becoming co-CEO, he was responsible for overseeing Samsung’s display division.
