Gunmen attacked Gana, Zamfara, abducting 46 individuals, including women and children, in a late-night raid. The assailants set homes ablaze and conducted house-to-house searches. This marks another alarming incident in Nigeria's northern region, highlighting the need for urgent security interventions to curb kidnapping and banditry in affected communities.

Gunmen attacked Gana, a community in Zamfara State, abducting 46 individuals, including women and children. The attack, which occurred late Sunday night, involved dozens of armed men on motorcycles who fired indiscriminately, setting homes and businesses ablaze.

Eyewitnesses report that the attackers conducted house-to-house searches, capturing residents unable to flee into the nearby forest. The incident is the latest in a series of abductions plaguing northern Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom have surged.

In December, a similar attack in Maradun Local Government Area saw 43 people abducted. Security forces have conducted operations in Zamfara, targeting terrorist hideouts and neutralizing several criminals. Despite these efforts, communities remain vulnerable to frequent assaults.

Residents affected by Sunday’s attack have called on authorities to intensify security measures and provide relief for those displaced. The growing insecurity in Zamfara highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address the root causes of banditry and protect local populations.
