Gunmen attacked Marke village in Kaduna State, killing the village head, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, and setting his house ablaze. The incident, which occurred in Makarfi Local Government Area, has raised concerns about security in the region.
Gunmen have struck in the quiet village of Marke in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, leaving tragedy in their wake. The targeted victim, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, the village head, was brutally killed in his own home in the early hours of Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, suspected to be hired killers, forcefully entered the victim's residence around 12:30 am, displacing everyone from the compound.
They proceeded to hunt down Malam Kabiru, who, along with his elder brother Tukur Mohammed, sought refuge in the ceiling. Despite their attempts to hide, the gunmen discovered Malam Kabiru, leading to his tragic demise.
The attackers then set the house ablaze, further compounding the horror of the situation. Alhaji Aminu Sani Marke, the councilor of Dandamisa Ward, lamented the loss and the destruction caused, revealing that the village head's body could not be recovered due to the inferno.
The assailants reportedly looted valuables worth millions of naira before fleeing the scene. The late Kabiru Muhammad, aged 30, had assumed his role as the village head in 2018. Meanwhile, inquiries to the Kaduna State Police Command regarding the incident remain unanswered, leaving the community in fear and uncertainty.
