A horrifying terrorist attack on the Funtua-Gusau highway in Zamfara State has left a number of individuals dead and several others abducted. The assailants struck motorists around 3:30 p.m., specifically blocking the highway between Kucheri and Magazu in Tsafe Local Government. The attackers, with calculated precision, opened fire indiscriminately on vehicles traveling to and from Gusau, resulting in a road blockade.

Among the wounded was Kabiru Yahaya, the former House of Representatives member of Mafara/Anka in Zamfara State, who has been transported to Tsafe General Hospital. Sadly, the full extent of casualties remains unknown, as the attackers abducted all the passengers in the first vehicle.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire and subsequently saw a convoy of military vehicles racing toward the scene. This incident follows a recent attack on a police checkpoint just a short distance from Tsafe town, where three policemen were killed.

Terrorist activities in the North-west region have caused fear and instability over the years, affecting communities, schools, places of worship, and highways. The resulting loss of life and displacement of hundreds of people has created a dire security situation that authorities are struggling to contain. The police spokesperson in Zamfara State has yet to provide official comments or details regarding the recent attack.
